Armenian Street

Armenian Street (in collaboration with FARM)

88 Armenian is a boutique hotel located in the center of George Town's World Heritage Site. The historic three-storey shophouse has been restored in line with heritage conservation standards and with the appropriate materials and methods, which ensured that the distinct building has kept its local soul: This part of Armenian street used to be the street of coppersmiths, which gave impetus to the materiality of the hotel’s interior: Copper tones, charred timber and terracotta invoke a sense of connection to the fire, metal and earth required in the work of the coppersmiths. The conversion into a top-of-the range boutique hotel was a process of blending these aspects of local heritage with a feel of luxury and adapting the existing building to the stringent requirements of a top-of-the range hotel.
