Penang Global Tourism Office

Primarily functioning as a tourism office, the project attempts to recreate and recapture its enclosing structure, an elegant heritage building called the Whiteaways. Despite an almost impossible budget to adhere to, the retrofitting works, which included layering and delayering paint to create a specific effect within the interior was successful in giving it a rustic edge. This project has set a benchmark for heritage reuse by combining modern design without excessive intervention on the existing shell.
